Study at the Center

An Invitation to Study at the Center

Philosophy of Training

It is not surprising to find students, among the CRIUSMQ research teams, that have studied in biology, medecine, psychology, physics, the sciences of materials or chemistry, to name but a few. Coming from different countries and universities, our students are recruited during their first Bachelor’s years and guided during their Master’s, PhD and Post-Doctoral degrees. They are enrolled by Laval University in Quebec in specializations. All these students are strongly encouraged to diversify and expand their knowledge by enrolling in basic or more specialized courses of various departments so as to fit in with the interdisciplinarity of the research practiced at the CRIUSMQ.

Objectives

"Create highly qualified individuals capable of interpreting the different aspects of complex problems"

A recent poll conducted among Quebec firms, especially those in biotechnology and optics, showed a strong demand for individuals that are highly educated and have an expanded range of knowledge. Because of the explosion of biotechnologies in recent years, our research programs offer a fantastic environment where students can develop their knowledge and curiosity, a sort of talent-developing nursery where companies can recruit the best candidates the most suited to their needs.

First Contact

Students at the Bachelor’s level are asked to get in touch with us if they wish to have introduction to neurophotonics and neurosciences. Our research groups will be glad to welcome them either for a summer training session or for a couple of weeks of observation in their laboratories. In this way, students can get a better idea of what the field of research entails and of the areas that we are involved in. It also permits both future students at the Master’s and PhD levels and future supervisors to get acquainted, and gives our group the opportunity to meet these students. The students already at the Master’s or PhD level will have the opportunity to satisfy their taste for knowledge and develop their know-how, whereas those doing post-doctorate studies will discover, through their relationship with our experts, an environment that is favourable to specializations and state-of-the-art techniques.
